I provide psychological and psychoeducational assessments in Toronto for children, adolescents, and adults. My services are available in English and American Sign Language (ASL). For fees, what is included, and next steps in the assessment process, please see the Administration page.

Personalized Assessments

All assessment services (clinical interviews, testing, and feedback) are provided directly by me without trainees, supervised clinicians, psychometrists, or students. This allows for an individualized assessment process. I am able to:

  • make my own observations. I can evaluate not only a client’s level of performance, but also the manner in which the client approaches tasks, responds to challenge, and uses strategies in real time.
  • adjust the assessment in response to emerging findings, so that test selection is guided by the client rather than by a fixed, predetermined battery. For example, if I see memory challenges during early testing, I can shift and delve deeper without needing to consult with a supervisor.

Assessment Process

An assessment may be completed in a single meeting or over the course of multiple days, depending on the referral question and the nature of the concerns being explored. A psychological or psychoeducational assessment often includes a clinical interview with the client and, when appropriate, parents or other involved adults; review of relevant records and completed forms; standardized testing; and feedback about the results.

An assessment may address questions related to:

  • giftedness
  • learning disabilities
  • attention difficulties, including ADHD-related concerns
  • cognitive functioning
  • developmental delays
  • autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • memory

People may seek an assessment in order to:

  • clarify learning, attention, cognitive, or developmental questions
  • support applications for accommodations at school, post-secondary, or work
  • support access to services, memberships, or documentation requirements such as Mensa, DSO, or ODSP
  • better understand strengths and needs in order to guide treatment or planning

If you are considering a psychoeducational assessment for your child, you may also wish to pursue a referral to the school psychologist through your local school board. These services are often provided at no cost to students who qualify. Some families instead choose a psychologist in private practice in order to avoid long wait times, keep information private, seek a second opinion, or access a psychologist with specific areas of expertise.

If you would like to discuss whether an assessment is the right fit for you or your child, please contact me. For fees and practical details about the process, please see the Administration page.
